Playing Petanque in Montmartre

A little bit of History before we start. The word ‘petanque’ – ‘pe’ for ‘pied’ (foot in French) and ‘tanca’ for ‘planté’ (to plant in French) - is a term coming from the French provincial Occitan referring to a game from the same region. In this game, the players must keep their feet still on the ground and throw a metallic ball. This ball must be thrown toward another little ball called the ‘cochonnet’. The player who wins the party is the one whose ball is the closest to the cochonnet. It is an unmissable sport in France, especially in the South. But even in Paris you may see people gathering in parks or gardens to play. It is a very convivial game, and I propose you to play with me in a nestled place in Montmartre. We will meet at the station Lamarck Caulaincourt. I suggest you to start with a little walk in the little streets of Montmartre. Then to get to know one another a little bit more we will stop at an atypical and original bar where we could play petanque.

  • An original and gustative walk in the centre of Montmartre
  • Join a crazy petanque match and share a drink with your new team (soft/alcohol)
